Western Environment Centre of Newfoundland
We’re dedicated to engaging our community in food and climate action through impactful educational initiatives.
Since 1998, we’ve grown from a small citizens' group to a thriving environmental organization here in Western Newfoundland.
Our Mission
We strive to inspire a community of environmentally active citizens through education, action, and dialogue.
Our Focus
Hands-On Projects
Our projects engage our members in hands-on sustainability programs including our Community Gardens and Growing Dome Greenhouse, Food Skills Workshops, Fruit Rescue, Community Composting, Seed Library and more.
We collaborate with organizations like the City of Corner Brook, Association for New Canadians, Corner Brook Public Library, Vine Place Community Centre, Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Food First NL and many more to create opportunities for you to be actively involved in issues that you care about in your own community.
Public Dialogue
We work to create plenty of opportunity for public dialogue on the issues that matter to our community!
The Green Drinks Speakers Series pairs academic and community speakers on a large variety of critical environmental topics. And our workshop series helps to connect our community with the knowledge and skills to help build a more regenerative food system.
We also organize and participate in other public events on current issues such as debates and forums.
